Wimbledon bans World Cup screenings

The All England Club announces that it will not be screening World Cup matches during Wimbledon.

The All England Club has announced that it will not be showing World Cup matches in the grounds during the Wimbledon championships.

The third Grand Slam of the season gets underway today, and will finish before the tournament in Brazil reaches the semi-final stage.

A spokesman for the event told The Mirror: "We're not showing any World Cup games on the big screen or TVs anywhere in the grounds. This is a tennis event."

Andy Murray begins the defence of his Wimbledon title against David Goffin later today.
