Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez believes that it is "important" for his players to give back to the community.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has claimed that his players are "excited" to meet their fans and reach out to the community.

The Latics squad are planning to visit hospitals and schools in the area in the run-up to Christmas to give back to the "Wigan Athletic family".

"The players are really looking forward to going to the hospital visits and visiting people in the community because they are determined to really give something back during the Christmas period," Martinez told the club's official website.

"It is important for the players to meet the young supporters of the club because it is all about being a good example and of course we are a very family focused club. The boys are really excited to take their roles in the community and to have an impression on the Wigan Athletic family."

Martinez and a number of players will be at the club's shop at the DW Stadium on Thursday to sign copies of book Keep The Faith.
