Sister of convicted child sex offender Adam Johnson leads "justice" campaign

Adam Johnson's sister launches a "justice" campaign on Facebook after the former Sunderland footballer was convicted of a child sex offence.

The sister of former Sunderland winger Adam Johnson has begun a campaign for "justice" after her brother was convicted of a child sex offence.

Johnson faces a prison term, which could range from between four and 10 years, after he was found guilty of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.

The sportsman's sister Faye Johnson has taken to Facebook urging followers to back her "Justice for Johnson" campaign.

The former Manchester City player's sibling posted a back and white picture of Johnson hugging his one-year-old daughter, who is wearing a Sunderland shirt with 'DADDY' emblazoned on the back.

On the image, a block of writing reads: "Change your profile picture to support Adam Johnson's appeal. Facebook removed our group but we will not stop publicising our support #TeamAJ".

According to The Guardian, the 'Adam Johnson Appeal Fight' page, which attracted 1,000 'likes', was taken down by Facebook after users complained about comments featured on the page relating to the footballer's victim.

Faye and her father Dave appeared in the public gallery, alongside Johnson's ex-girlfriend Stacey Flounders, during the three-week trial at Bradford Crown Court.

Johnson was cleared of a charge relating to oral sex with the teenage girl, but he previously admitted to kissing and grooming her.
