Stoke City's chief executive Tony Scholes has revealed that the club have experienced a rise in season ticket sales since the arrival of new manager Mark Hughes.

The former Queens Park Rangers boss, who replaced Tony Pulis at the Britannia Stadium in May, has sparked an improvement on last year's 15% decrease.

"While being disappointed that we were down at all, to put that into context we had still sold 16,500 season tickets at that point and we had sold an awful lot more than many people were expecting us to," Scholes told The Sentinel.

"Since we have closed the launch period and have gone back on sale with mid-priced tickets, and appointed Mark Hughes, we have had a good response and have sold a further 1,000 tickets. We would normally sell 500 to 600 at the mid-price."

Stoke is Hughes's sixth club in management.
