New Tottenham Hotspur capture Lewis Holtby has had a tattoo inked on his arm in memory of his friend Thomas Noack, who died last year.

The Germany Under-21 international, who has agreed to move to White Hart Lane from Schalke 04 in the summer, donned the artwork, which says, "A warrior of light knows that in the silence of his heart he will hear an order that will show him the way," in German on his right arm.

"It was his favorite quote," the Daily Mail quotes Holtby as saying. "It also has a deep meaning for me.

"Whenever I get time off the track, this quotation leads me back in the right direction. His death was a deep shock but I tried to handle it with my family."

The quote was written by Brazilian lyricist Paulo Coelho.
