Russia dominate inaugural European Games with 79 gold medals

Russian Federation dominate the first European Games with 79 gold medals.

Russian Federation have finished top of the medals table with 79 golds at the inaugural European Games in Baku.

The men's beach soccer team took Russia's final gold of the event, to cap off a dominant display from the nation.

On top of their haul of golds, Russia claimed 40 silvers and 45 bronze medals, picking up medals in 23 of the 30 sports on display during the past two weeks.

Hosts Azerbaijan finished in second with 21 golds, 15 silvers and 20 bronze medals.

Team GB finished down in third, after claiming 18 gold medals in total.
