Azerbaijan chef de mission Konul Nurullayeva believes that the European Games is proof that Baku can host the Olympics.
Baku made bids for the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games but were unsuccessful.
"We put forward our nomination to host the Olympic Games, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. The reason for this was our inexperience at hosting multi-sport international events. As you can see, I think the Games were organised at a top level," Nurullayeva told reporters.
"All our guests were pleased with us and the closing ceremony is coming and I believe we will stun everyone with it. The fact that we organised and executed the Games at a top level shows that we have the means.
"As for nomination, it is still early to talk about it, but after the Games are over we will come together and put forward out position on this."
Azerbaijan look set to finish second in the medals table, one place ahead of Great Britain.
