Caroline Wozniacki delighted to finish New York Marathon in impressive time

Caroline Wozniacki expresses her joy at finishing the New York Marathon in less than three-and-a-half hours on Sunday.

Caroline Wozniacki has described the New York Marathon as an "incredible experience" after finishing in less than three-and-a-half hours on Sunday.

The tennis world number eight had initially planned to complete the 26.2 mile race in under four hours, but managed to secure a time of 3:27 on the day.

"The crowd was amazing," The Independent quotes Wozniacki as saying. "It was incredible. It was such an incredible experience.

"I'm so happy to have done this. I'm so proud. Now I have this medal. I can say that I've done the New York City Marathon. I've even done it at a cool time. So I'm really, really happy."

Wozniacki, who was due to marry world number one golfer Rory McIlroy during that weekend prior to their split, was met by friend and fellow tennis player Serena Williams at the finish line.
