World number two golfer Tiger Woods has revealed that he publicly announced his new relationship with Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn in order to stop attention from the paparazzi.
The 37-year-old and his new love confirmed reports that they are dating on Monday by releasing a statement and photos of the pair posing together.
"We're very happy where we're at, but also we wanted to limit the 'stalkarazzi' and all those sleazy websites that are out there following us," the Daily Mail quotes Woods as saying.
"I've had situations where it's been very dangerous for my kids and the extent they'll go to. We basically devalued the first photos.
"Unfortunately, that's just the way it is in our society right now, and we felt like it was the best thing to do. I'm very happy about it."
This is the first public relationship that Woods has been in since he was divorced by Elin Nordegren in 2010 following reports of a string of affairs.
