US Olympic runner Nick Symmonds has failed in his attempt to break the world record for the "beer mile".
The event requires competitors to down a can of beer at the start of the race, then another at each of the 1/4-mile, 1/2-mile and 3/4-mile marks.
The 28-year-old, who finished fifth in the men's 800m at the Games, completed his beer mile in 5:15 on Tuesday, six seconds short of the world record.
The record was set by Canadian marathon runner Jim Finlayson in 2007, who managed a time of 5:09 while drinking Granville Island Winter Ale.
