A number of sports stars turn out to honour the life of late cricketer Tom Maynard at The Tom Maynard Memorial Ball

Stars from a number of sports attended a special event to honour the life and career of cricketer Tom Maynard.

The ex-Surrey batsman tragically passed away last June when he was electrocuted by a live rail before getting struck by a London Underground train in Wimbledon after police tried to pull him over in his car.

England rugby captain Chris Robshaw, Mako Vunipola, ex-England cricket captain Michael Vaughan and Olympic shooting champion Peter Wilson made an appearance at The Tom Maynard Memorial Ball.

In an inquest into Maynard's death, it had been revealed that the 23-year-old had high levels of alcohol and drugs, including cocaine, in his system when he died.
