Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds has added another achievement to her belt in the form of a degree.

The 18-year-old, who won two gold medals in last year's London Games, was given an honorary degree from Bath University this week.

"I feel really honoured to get an honorary degree, it was quite a shock to be asked really, but of course I said I would love to," the Express & Star quotes Simmonds as saying.

"It is great to have this award at this age and hopefully I will go on to university myself one day. I am still doing my A-levels at the moment."

Simmonds received the degree from the university's new chancellor Prince Edward.
