Michael Schumacher's skis 'not cause of accident'

French police confirm that faulty skis did not cause Michael Schumacher's accident in the French Alps.

French police have confirmed that the skis used by Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher did not cause the accident that resulted in the sportsman suffering a serious head injury.

The 45-year-old is currently in a critical but stable condition at the University Hospital in Grenoble after hitting his head on a rock while skiing off-piste at the resort of Meribel in the French Alps.

French state prosecutor Patrick Quincy has confirmed that investigators have attended the site of the accident, as well as analysing a video filmed from a camera in Schumacher's helmet.

During a press conference, investigators denied that he had faulty skis, but a scratch under one of his skis indicated that he did hit a rock.

The accident occurred on December 29.
