Muhammad Ali's first heavyweight championship-winning gloves sell for £520k

Muhammad Ali's first heavyweight championship-winning gloves reportedly sell for £520,000 at an auction in New York.

The boxing gloves worn by Muhammad Ali when he won his first heavyweight championship title have reportedly raked in £520,000 in a New York auction.

The famous gloves were given an estimated value of £302,000 when they were included in the Heritage Auctions in the Big Apple earlier this month.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the gloves that Ali wore when he took on Sonny Liston in a Miami ring in February 1964, managed to sell for over half a million pounds.

Ali, known back then as Cassius Clay, won by technical knockout after seven rounds with Liston.
