Nelson Mandela passed away on Thursday evening at the age of 95 following a lengthy battle with illness.
Mandela was hailed as a hero for his anti-apartheid activities, and served as South Africa's first black president after spending 27 years in prison.
He was also instrumental in bringing the 2010 World Cup to his country, marking the first time an African nation has hosted the tournament.
