A federal judge has rejected a bid by disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong to have a damages lawsuit against him thrown out.
The 42-year-old, who was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles for using performance-enhancing substances, is the subject of a $100m (£58.6m) whistleblower lawsuit brought by former teammate Floyd Landis and the US Government.
Armstrong was told by the judge that Landis was "rife with allegations" that his teammate had concealed doping while competing for the government-backed US Postal Service team, and that the case would have to be heard.
Under American law, a whistleblower can pursue a fraud case on behalf of the government, and is entitled to up to a quarter of the recovered sum.
