Transgender Olympian Caitlyn Jenner delivered a tearful acceptance speech when she was given the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The 65-year-old, formerly known as Bruce, began living as a woman in April this year following an interview with Diane Sawyer, where she opened up about her identity.
In 1976, Jenner won Olympic gold in the decathlon in Canada, but is more recently known for being part of reality TV show Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
During her acceptance speech, Jenner said: "The biggest fear in Caitlyn Jenner coming out was I never wanted to hurt anyone else, most of all my family and my kids. I'm so, so grateful to have all of you in my life. Thank you.
"This transition has been harder on me than anything I could have imagined. Trans people deserve something vital - they deserve your respect."
Jenner's nine children were in the audience during the ceremony.
