Great Britain Cycling Team head coach Shane Sutton in hospital after crash

Great Britain Cycling Team head coach Shane Sutton is taken to hospital after suffering bruising and bleeding on the brain following a bike crash.

Great Britain Cycling Team head coach Shane Sutton is in hospital after suffering a head injury in a bike crash in Manchester.

Sutton is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days after it was revealed that he had suffered bruising and bleeding on the brain.

The accident comes a day after Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins was knocked off his bike by a car at a petrol station in Lancashire.

A spokesperson for British Cycling said: "It is extremely rare that our riders and coaches are hurt while out cycling on the road, even rarer that two incidents should occur in a short space of time, and we wish Shane and Bradley a speedy recovery."

Wiggins was released from hospital this afternoon.
