Bradley Wiggins is said to be in a stable condition after being involved in a collision.

Lancashire Police have offered on update on Bradley Wiggins condition after the Tour de France winner was injured in a collision.

The Olympic gold medallist was hospitalised after being hit by a car while out training in Wrightington, but his wounds are "not life-threatening", BBC Sport reports.

The police said in a statement: "The rider is a 32-year-old local man. He was taken to hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening. His condition is stable.

"The incident is a cyclist involved in a collision with a white Astra car.

"His family have made aware of what has happened. The driver of the Astra car is a local woman who was not injured but she is helping police with enquires."

Wiggins is said to have damaged his ribs in the crash at Crow Orchard Road. A woman driver is helping police with their inquiries.
