Paul Gascoigne has been rushed to hospital after reportedly checking into a health spa then collapsing "in a pool of blood".
The former England midfielder arrived at Champneys Forest Mere in Hampshire on Friday night in a "paralytic" state, according to The Sun. After being led to his room by hotel staff, the 48-year-old allegedly attempted to order alcohol but his request was denied.
Gascoigne was then found in the early hours of Saturday morning "slumped over and stinking of booze" with blood pouring from his hand, where he had fallen on a piece of glass.
A spokeswoman for the South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed that they had attended "a medical emergency" at the facility at 5am on Saturday, adding: "A man in his 40s was assessed and taken to hospital."
The former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur star has battled with alcoholism for most of his adult life, as well as bulimia, OCD and bipolar disorder.
