French Football Federation searched in connection with Sepp Blatter case

Authorities seize documents from the headquarters of the French Football Federation in connection with an investigation into former FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

The French Football Federation's headquarters in Paris were searched on Tuesday in connection with Swiss authorities' investigation into former FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

The office of the Switzerland attorney general has claimed that French authorities were instructed to seize documents in relation to "the suspected payment of 2m Swiss francs [£700,000]", according to BBC Sport.

Blatter is under investigation over alleged criminal mismanagement or misappropriation over a TV rights deal and has been accused of transferring a "disloyal" payment to UEFA president Michel Platini.

Blatter spent 17 years in charge of football's world governing body before announcing his resignation last year.

The 79-year-old was succeeded by Gianni Infantino last month.
