BT Sport launches new 'red button' service for TV viewers

BT Sport launch BT Sport Extra, which is a new 'red button' service providing additional content for TV subscribers.

BT Sport has announced the launch of a new 'red button' service, which will provide additional coverage for TV subscribers.

The BT Sport Extra service will come into play at selected times during the regularly scheduled programming on BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN channels.

The option of additional content, which has been running on BT's website and app, will be available on TV screens tonight, starting with Bordeaux's clash against Evian in Ligue 1 at 7.30pm.

This new development comes ahead of next season's Champions League coverage on BT Sport, who will stream additional games from the red button.

Head of BT Sport Simon Green said: "Reach is at the heart of BT Sport and we are continually looking at new ways to enhance our viewers' experience.

"BT Sport Extra provides sports fans with access to even more live sporting action whether that's on TV, via the red button, app or online."

BT Sport Extra can be accessed by BT TV subscribers on channel 527, while Sky and Virgin Media customers can use the new service by pressing the red button on their remote.
