BT Sport to screen Louis van Gaal's Premier League opener

Broadcaster BT Sport will show Louis van Gaal's first match as Manchester United boss live on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Louis van Gaal's first official match in charge of Manchester United will be screened live by BT Sport on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

The Red Devils will play host to Swansea City at Old Trafford, which will get underway at 12.45pm on Saturday, August 16.

Speaking about that contest, the head of the broadcaster Simon Green said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have secured some superb matches for the start of the 2014/15 season. On the opening day of the season, all eyes will be on Louis van Gaal fresh from the Netherlands' World Cup efforts and the start of his tenure with Manchester United."

Man United's trip to Burnley will also be screened later that month, before the channel's coverage in September gets underway with Arsenal's home match against champions Manchester City.

Before the end of November, BT Sport will also show the Merseyside derby, as well as Man United vs. Everton and Liverpool vs. Chelsea.
