Police were called to the home of former rugby player Ben Cohen and wife Abby amid fears of a domestic dispute, according to a report.
The Rugby World Cup winner married in 2003 - the same year his England side claimed the Webb Ellis Cup - but split from his wife in 2014, with divorce proceedings currently underway.
According to The Sun, mutual friends of the couple contacted police and asked them to intervene in a domestic dispute, but they eventually left their Northampton house without further action being taken.
Sources close to the pair are reported as saying: "The divorce has been a difficult and painful one and things are still very fraught between them.
"There have been a lot of heated arguments but this time friends felt the situation was dangerously close to getting out of control."
Ben, 36, is currently dating former Strictly Come Dancing partner Kristina Rihanoff.
