Former Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder David Beckham is "great friends" with Tom Cruise, according to the Hollywood actor.
The ex-England captain made the headlines when he first moved to the US five years ago by attending celebrity parties and events with actors including Cruise and Will Smith.
"I started watching Beckham when he first started playing and then met him years after when he was playing for Real Madrid," Cruise told Sky News. "I always used to watch his games when I was here."
When asked if the 50-year-old was still in touch with Beckham, he replied: "Yeah, yeah we do texts and you know, we are great friends."
Cruise visited the Etihad Stadium on Sunday to watch the Manchester derby.
