Muhammad Ali's daughters play down concerns over boxing legend's health

Muhammad Ali's daughters Hana and May May calm concerns over the boxing legend's health.

The daughters of boxing legend Muhammad Ali have insisted that their father is "fine" following concerns over his health.

Questions over Ali's health were raised when the 72-year-old, who has Parkinson's disease, failed to turn up to last Wednesday's premiere of I Am Ali, which is based on the retired boxer's life.

However, in an interview with NBC News's Today, Ali's daughters Hana and May May calmed concerns.

May May said: "Unfortunately, certain family members that don't understand Parkinson's might misspeak because they don't see him as often so when they do see him, they think he's doing worse than what he is. But he is fine people, don't be worried."

Ali, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in history, was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1984.
