Amanda Staveley says that she is 'hugely hurt' by claims that her PCP Capital Partners group are 'wasting time' with their offer to purchase Newcastle United.

Amanda Staveley has revealed that her £250m offer to purchase Newcastle United from Mike Ashley "remains on the table", despite a breakdown in talks earlier this week.

Ashley's hopes of selling the club he purchased more than a decade ago appeared to have come to an end on Tuesday, as an agreement over the valuation of the North-East outfit could not be reached.

Staveley's PCP Capital Partners group has not rescinded their latest offer, however, and there is still a chance of a takeover being completed if Ashley - who formally put the Magpies up for sale in October - changes his stance.

"I'm very much still interested," Staveley told The Times. "Our bid remains on the table. This is an investment, but it has to be a long-term investment.

"Newcastle would be run as a business, but we want it to be a successful, thriving business that is an absolutely integral part of the city.

"I'm very concerned, I'm very surprised and I'm disappointed about what's been said this week. The suggestion that we were either wasting time or not serious is absurd. It's hurtful. Hugely hurtful."

Ashley bought Newcastle for £134.4m in 2007, with the club being relegated to the Championship twice during that time.
