Diego Maradona returns to Italy for the first time in eight years and will attend Napoli's game against Juventus in Naples on Friday.

Argentine legend Diego Maradona has returned to Italy to clear his name of tax evasion.

The 52-year-old is alleged to have not paid his taxes while playing for Napoli in Serie A between 1984 and 1991.

Maradona, who was convicted of tax evasion in 2005 and ordered to pay more than $50m, landed in Rome on Monday and will attend Napoli's league clash against Juventus in Naples on Friday.

It is the first time in eight years that Maradona has returned to Italy. He led Napoli to Scudetto success in 1986-87 and 1989-90.
