Formula 1 rivalry 'slides into Sochi Games'

The famous rivalry between McLaren and Ferrari spills into the Sochi Games.

It has emerged that the rivalry between Formula 1 heavyweights McLaren and Ferrari has moved into the Winter Olympics.

McLaren reportedly helped Great Britain's Lizzy Yarnold win gold in the women's skeleton last week, while the two have been in direct competition in the bobsleigh event, according to grandprix.com.

McLaren's Carolina Hargrove is quoted as saying: "We like that. It's part of how we are. Everyone working here is seriously competitive and the same on [Ferrari's] side. So it adds another element to it, which is quite fun."

The new F1 season gets underway next month.
