Manchester United plane forced to make diversion

Manchester United's plane, heading for Beijing, has to make an emergency landing in Tianjin due to bad weather conditions.

Manchester United's plane, which was en route to Beijing, had to make an emergency landing due to poor weather, Dutch attacker Memphis Depay confirmed on his Facebook account.

Jose Mourinho's side lost 4-1 to Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on Friday and had been due to travel to Beijing on Saturday ahead of Monday's pre-season clash with Manchester City.

However, via a video, Depay revealed that the club's plane had to make an early landing in Tianjin in a bid to escape the bad weather, which has swept across Beijing in recent days.

"We are lost somewhere, we had to make a quick landing somewhere. We tried to fly to Beijing but the weather is a little bit bad so we had to land somewhere else," Depay revealed.

"So now we're waiting until the weather gets a little bit easier so that we can land. I hope we can leave soon so that we can prepare ourselves for the game versus Manchester City."

It was claimed last week that Monday's Manchester derby in Beijing could be cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions.
