Luke Shaw responds to gay rumours

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw denies suggestions that he will come out as gay.

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has denied rumours that he is one of two Premier League players poised to come out as gay shortly.

Speculation is rife that two top-flight figures - including one England international - will make the announcement in the near future, but the 21-year-old says that he is not one of them.

In 1990, Justin Fashanu revealed that he was gay, but nobody in England's top flight has followed suit since.

Former Aston Villa and Everton midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger was the last high-profile footballer to come out last year.
