Romelu Lukaku's lawyer says that the Manchester United striker "deeply regrets" his behaviour over loud partying at his Beverly Hills property earlier this year.

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has agreed to pay a settlement of $450 (£336) to Beverly Hills Police for repeated callouts at his rented house during the summer.

The Belgium international was arrested by officers shortly before finalising a £75m transfer to Old Trafford at the property he was staying at with new teammate Paul Pogba.

Five noise complaints were made in the same number of days, leading to a misdemeanour citation being given for excessive noise and a court case being scheduled for October.

In his absence, Lukaku was given a fine and told that his charge would be reduced to a disturbance of the peace infraction.

Speaking at court on Monday, where no contest plea was issued, defending lawyer Robert Humphreys said: "Mr Lukaku deeply regrets any inconvenience he caused the city of Beverly Hills.

"And he's pleased by this settlement to make amends for his past conduct and pleased to have the matter behind him."

Lukaku was also ordered to pay a further £348 in fines, fees and penalties by March 19, 2018.

The original offence carried a six-month jail term had Lukaku been found guilty.
