Premier League season to be finished behind closed doors if coronavirus spreads?

A report claims that there is a possibility the concluding stages of the Premier League season will be played behind closed doors as the coronavirus continues to spread.

Premier League and Football Association chiefs are reportedly working on contingency plans that could see the English top-flight campaign played behind closed doors if the coronavirus spreads.

A number of sporting events have already been postponed or cancelled over the past few weeks due to concerns over spreading the virus, which has so far claimed the lives of more than 3,000 people.

According to The Sun, there is a chance that the Premier League season could conclude with games played in front of no supporters, with little room to manoeuvre in terms of rescheduling fixtures at a later date.

There have been 36 confirmed cases of the virus in the United Kingdom and the report indicates that FA bosses will accept all government advice.

Meanwhile, this summer's Euro 2020 - spread across 12 European cities - is expected to go ahead as planned.
