Manchester City planning to expand Etihad Stadium next summer

Manchester City hope to add an extra 8,000 seats to the North Stand at their Etihad Stadium home to make it the second-largest ground in English club football.

Premier League champions Manchester City are planning to increase the capacity of the Etihad Stadium to 63,000.

The Citizens have already discussed the expansion plans with supporters and could start work as early as next summer.

City want to add an extra 8,000 seats to their ground, making it the second-largest club stadium in English football after Manchester United's Old Trafford.

Stadium construction company ISG have been brought on board, with City looking to add a third tier to the North Stand.

The current top-flight pacesetters spent in the region of £60m on expanding the South Stand last year, while plans to expand the East and West Stands are also in place.
