Manchester City's Martin Demichelis 'accepts FA misconduct charge over betting'

Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis will reportedly not contest a Football Association charge over alleged betting offences.

Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis has reportedly decided not to contest a Football Association charge over alleged betting offences.

The Argentine defender is accused of 12 breaches of FA rule E8 concerning matches played between January 22 and 28 this year.

Players and coaches from the top eight leagues in England are forbidden from betting on any worldwide football under gambling rules introduced in 2014.

Demichelis had until 5pm today to respond to the charge and although no official statement was released by City, PA claims that he will not contest the charge.

The 35-year-old's breaches are said not to involve any games he or City have played in.
