Manchester City youth coach Scott Sellars has escaped a jail term after admitting to killing a motorcyclist by careless driving.

The 47-year-old, who played for Blackburn Rovers during his career on the pitch, killed Simon Burnett, 47, while driving to the City training ground straight after an overnight flight from Dubai.

Sellars admitted that he fell asleep at the wheel of his BMW on the A6 when he hit the motorcyclist back in April 2011.

Nottingham Crown Court handed the former midfielder a six-month suspended jail sentence, a two-year driving ban and 300 hours of community service.
