Daniel Sturridge: 'I want to be an actor'

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge claims that he would like to go into acting when his playing career is over.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has claimed that he would like to go into acting when his playing career is over.

The 24-year-old, who has netted 20 times for the Reds this season, revealed his retirement plans when speaking to Clare Balding on BT Sport.

He said: "My mum is looking to open a restaurant, and maybe I will do something with that [after I retire], but maybe I will go into acting.

"I want to do something I enjoy rather than just relax, and I think acting would be good. My favourite actors are Jamie Foxx, Will Smith and Denzel Washington. They're the coolest."

Liverpool are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League, and play Sturridge's former club Chelsea on Sunday.
