Steven Gerrard: 'I love being a Z-list celebrity in Los Angeles'

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard admits that he is enjoying being a Z-lister in Los Angeles as he prefers going unnoticed.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that he "loves" living the Z-list celebrity life in Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old moved to the Californian city with his wife Alex and three daughters Lilly-Ella, 11, Lexie, nine, and three-year-old Lourdes in July.

Gerrard, who signed for MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy after spending 17 years of his senior career at Anfield, has revealed that his children are surprised at how much time he can spend with them now that he is relatively unnoticed in the United States.

"I've gone from not being able to walk down a street without being stopped every five minutes to being a Z-lister out here and that's cool - I love it," Gerrard told Hello! magazine. "I've become a cool dad all of a sudden because I can take the kids out and no-one interferes.

"We can take them to the park, the beach, fairgrounds, water parks and be there for six hours and I might hear one person say my name and they're not even sure if it's me, so I just smile. The kids have been shocked I'm around and can do more things with them."

LA Galaxy currently have a two-point lead at the top of the MLS table.
