An Everton steward is the subject of an investigation after allegedly referring to Liverpool supporters as "murderers" on Facebook.

Karen Flynn lists her occupation as a Goodison Park steward on the social networking site and is also pictured inside the ground with co-workers in her profile image.

In the post made over the weekend, Flynn is alleged to have written in reference to Reds supporters: "The need to all be put down jammy fucking kappa trainers wearing ugly as fuck wankers. They are fucking murderers but never their fault. Xxx"

A spokesperson for the Toffees told the Liverpool Echo: "Everton Football Club is aware of this issue and is taking this matter very seriously.

"An internal investigation is underway and we will provide an update as soon as possible.

"All of our matchday staff are issued with clear guidelines and policies relating to social media and the consequences of any breach are made clear."

Everton lost 2-1 to Swansea City on Sunday, while Liverpool edged a nine-goal thriller over Norwich City at Carrow Road.
