Former Leeds United midfielder Robbie Rogers believes that the football culture in the UK is more homophobic than in the US.

The 26-year-old, who came out as gay in February, signed for Los Angeles Galaxy last month after initially retiring from football.

"The football culture in the UK is a bit behind, a bit more homophobic and racist than it is here," Rogers told Sky Sports News. "I don't know why that is but I just felt that way."

Rogers played for Leeds and Stevenage during his time in the UK.
