Los Angeles Galaxy star Robbie Keane and his teammates attended a special ceremony at the White House to meet president Barack Obama.
The American side were hosted by the politician in Washington DC following a triumphant year, which included the Western Conference title and MLS Cup success.
During a speech, Obama said: "America is starting to realise what the beautiful game is all about. And it is wonderful to see not just what's happening at the highest levels of professional sports, but how legions of young people are going to be continuing the traditions here in the United States with soccer for many years to come."
Keane, who joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2011, was named MLS Most Valuable Player.
