Snowboarder Seamus O'Connor has been selected as Ireland's flagbearer for the Sochi Winter Olympics closing ceremony today.
The United States-born teenager, who has Irish grandparents, has been given the honour by the Olympic Council of Ireland and will lead his compatriots into the Fisht Olympic Stadium for the ceremony, which is due to start at 4:14pm GMT.
O'Connor told reporters: "When I received the flagbearer news, I was beyond honoured.
"These Olympics have given me several life changing moments and this is indeed another. I could not be more proud."
The 16-year-old took part in the snowboard slopestyle and half-pipe competitions at the Sochi Games.
