Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has admitted that he was "overwhelmed" by the number of fans who turned up to the cricketer's book signing in Manchester yesterday.

The 34-year-old has sparked controversy with his claims regarding the England team following his axe by the ECB back in February after the nation's disastrous Ashes campaign in Australia.

Pietersen has accused wicketkeeper Matt Prior of leading a culture of bullying in the team, while also admitting that he and former head coach Andy Flower never got on.

Yesterday evening, the batsman signed copies of his book KP: My Autobiography for fans at a 19th century monastery in the Manchester suburb of Gorton.

After the event, Pietersen wrote on Twitter: "Humbled and overwhelmed by the incredible reception and warmth at my booking signing in Manchester. Thank you all! Means the world!"

Prior to the official release of Pietersen's book, an alleged ECB document detailing the batsman's misdemeanours was leaked to the media.
