The England and Wales Cricket Board has clarified the status of a leaked dossier into Kevin Pietersen's alleged behaviour while playing for England.
The document, which was released by ESPN Cricinfo, lists a number of misdemeanours thought to have been committed by Pietersen during England's disastrous winter Ashes tour of Australia.
The website claimed that the dossier "played a central role in the ECB negotiations that ended Kevin Pietersen's England career", but the ECB has been quick to confirm that it is "simply part of a privileged legal document" produced by its lawyers.
The ECB posted on Twitter: "The document published by ESPNcricinfo is not what has been suggested. It is simply part of a privileged legal document produced by the ECB's lawyers compiling information as part of the ECB's internal due diligence ahead of the release of the Kevin Pietersen book."
Pietersen has been hugely critical of the ECB and his former teammates ahead of the release of his autobiography on Thursday.
