TV personality and journalist Piers Morgan has slammed the newly-appointed ECB director of England cricket Andrew Strauss following reports that he has no plans to recall Kevin Pietersen.
It is believed that the former England captain met with Pietersen on Monday evening to inform the batsman that he is unlikely to play international cricket again.
The decision was reportedly made despite Pietersen scoring an unbeaten triple century for Surrey at The Oval yesterday.
Morgan, who is a friend of Pietersen, has vented his anger towards Strauss on Twitter and is baffled by the ECB's decision to keep the batsman out of the team since his initial exile 15 months ago.
Morgan tweeted: "Kevin Pietersen has been knifed in the back again, by a petty little man who's put personal animosity before England cricket.
"I've never seen @kp24 bat better than yesterday. Yet Strauss responds by banning him all over again? He's a vindictive moron & this is war."
Strauss will address the media for the first time in his new role this morning.
