Former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne will appear in court later this month after allegedly making a racist 'joke' during one of his shows.
The 49-year-old, who has battled with alcoholism for the majority of his adult life, is alleged to have made the comment about a black security guard at one of his 'An Evening With Gazza' shows in November.
Police investigated the incident after they received a complaint regarding Gascoigne's conduct during the event.
The former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur player will appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on June 17 to be charged with racially aggravated abuse, according to ITV News.
Gascoigne retired from football in 2004.
