Ian Bell nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year

Ian Bell, Ben Ainslie, Hannah Cockroft, Mo Farah and Chris Froome all receive nominations for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2013.

England batsman Ian Bell is among 10 nominees for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2013.

The 31-year-old is being recognised for his starring role in England's 3-0 Ashes series win over Australia earlier this year.

Ben Ainslie, Hannah Cockroft, Mo Farah and Chris Froome have also been shortlisted.

The first five nominees were revealed live on the BBC's The One Show, with the remaining five to be confirmed later this evening.

Tennis star Andy Murray is almost certain to be among the next batch of nominees.

The 26-year-old Scot is the odds-on favourite to win the award, having become the first British man to win a Wimbledon singles title in 77 years this summer.
