Sam Allardyce 'baffled' England players with quiz night

Former England manager Sam Allardyce reportedly left players "flummoxed" with his questions in a special quiz night at St George's Park.

Former England manager Sam Allardyce reportedly left his players "baffled" by his questions in a quiz night organised during his brief tenure in charge of the national side.

The 61-year-old, who was sacked by the Football Association last week after getting caught up in a media sting, organised the night at St George's Park last month in order to boost morale among the squad ahead of their World Cup qualifying win over Slovakia.

According to the Daily Mail, the players enjoyed the majority of Allardyce's quiz, which included a round about quotes from TV shows, but were left "flummoxed" when it came to the football round.

Allardyce is said to have asked questions 'revolving around football decades ago' and the players complained that they were "too young to know the answers".

Gareth Southgate has taken caretaker charge of the Three Lions for their next four games, beginning with a World Cup qualifier against Malta at Wembley on Saturday.
