Chapecoense have seemingly rejected calls for them to be granted relegation immunity next season.
The club, which lost 19 players in a plane crash in Colombia last week, are willing to drop into the second tier of Brazilian football if they finish among the bottom four, reports The Sun.
A number of other Brazilian clubs tabled the notion of granting Chapecoense exemption from relegation as a gesture of solidarity in the wake of the tragedy.
However, the team's president Ivan Tozzo, who is said to be determined to prove that his side can be rebuilt and avoid the drop on merit, has reportedly dismissed the notion as "complete nonsense".
Several players including Ronaldinho and Eidur Gudjohnsen have offered their services to Chapecoense while they regroup, and other Brazilian clubs have offered to send them players on loan.
