EFL, Sky Sports make promises over TV scheduling of live matches

The English Football League and Sky Sports promise to give clubs five weeks' notice before changing fixtures for TV broadcast.

The English Football League and Sky Sports have promised to give clubs five weeks' notice if their matches need to be rearranged for television coverage.

It has also been announced that if the EFL cannot announce fixture changes within three working days, the clubs have a right to decide whether or not to have the game broadcast live.

The aim of these promises is to "give EFL supporters as much time as is possible to allow for any alterations to travel plans that may be required".

In addition, the TV fixtures scheduled for October and November have been announced, with local derbies taking centre stage.

Birmingham City and Aston Villa will go head to head in a league meeting for the first time in five years on October 30, while Brentford and Queens Park Rangers will face one another in the same month.

The first Yorkshire derby of the season will be held in mid-October between Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday.
